SNCF Reseau DGOP authorises workforce safety system ZKL 3000 RC

16 June 2021

The workforce safety system ZKL 3000 RC has been authorised by SNCF Reseau DGOP for use on the French railways. After going through all the procedures for authorisation, the certificate was awarded on 15 June 2021 to the technology company Dual Inventive, which developed the system. This further opens the door for the rail sector in France to new technology that increases rail capacity and the safety of rail workers.

The ZKL 3000 RC is a remotely operated Track Circuit Operating Device, developed and patented by the Netherlands-based company Dual Inventive. Once installed in the track and activated, the system simulates a train in the section. This causes the signals to change to red and protects the track workers from oncoming train traffic.

Time saving

With the ZKL 3000 RC, line blockage can be taken and handed back in less than 10 seconds, remotely and safely with an app. This saves time: A line blockage is realized faster, more work can be done, and project times can be reduced.

Safer working

Only authorized users manage the system, and they no longer need to enter the tracks to take safety measures. They can remotely manage and activate the ZKL 3000 RC from their smartphone or tablet using the cloud system MTinfo 3000. Any malfunctions are detected in real time.

The ZKL 3000 RC can be installed and tested before scheduled maintenance. This keeps the risk of errors or irregularities to a minimum. The system can also remain in the track for several years, further reducing the risks rail workers.

Geolocation

Another major advantage is that the geolocation system of the ZKL 3000 RC makes it possible to reduce errors in the location of work sites, which is currently the cause of many incidents.

New for France

The ZKL 3000 RC has already been in use for a number of years by rail infrastructure managers and contractors in the Netherlands, Belgium, England, America and Australia. The first tests by SNCF Resau with the ZKL 3000 RC took place at Infrapôle Paris Est.
