Solar panels increase durability and safety

Solar panels installed on rail infrastructure, demonstrating Dual Inventive's sustainable approach to energy solutions for railway monitoring systems.

By cleverly integrating solar energy into the railways, you can make a huge contribution to the environment, but that is not all. The usage of solar panels also ensures greater safety around railway tracks, and on top of that, it also reduces operating costs. But how is all that possible?

Regular battery replacement – preferably not

Remote controlled safety products for railways run on a battery, as does our remotely operated Track Circuit Operating Device, theĀ ZKL 3000 RC. As a result, the battery has to be replaced once in a while. Under the best circumstances, this can sometimes happen during regular maintenance work when the track is already out of service, but this is more the exception than the rule. In most cases, a worker gets a specific task to swap batteries, and to do this, miles have to be travelled and the staff member has to enter the track putting themselves in danger.

CO2 reduction, savings and increased safety

The solar panelĀ Solar NRG 3000 PlusĀ offers an excellent solution for this. It provides power to the short-circuit device via a solar panel, meaning that regular battery replacement is no longer necessary. This saves on travel, lowers costs and CO2 emissions, and increases track worker safety. The use of solar panels lowers the requirement for workers to be on track swapping batteries, removing them from a high-risk environment.

Safe for underground cables

The solar panel can easily be mounted on a lineside OLE Stanchion or pole. The ballast box (BBX 3000) offers a solution for places where underground cables and pipes have to be taken into account. The solar panel is then placed on a sturdy base, similar to a parasol base, so there is no need to place a pole in the ground. Any underground cables and pipes along the track can remain untouched and free from harm.
